The Rio Dulce is less visited than other, more popular, Guatemalan destinations such as Tikal and Antigua, but it is a beautiful region. The Rio Dulce is a true tropical paradise. “Rio Dulce” literally means “sweet river” but in Spanish, can also be translated to “fresh water river”.

It is a large, slow flowing body of water that passes through jungle and 2 national parks on its way to the Carribbean Sea. People that go to Guatemala without visiting the Rio Dulce don’t know what they are missing.
