– A gallery of photos following a group of Q’eqchi’ women as they walk to the grand opening celebration for our new junior high:

Village women often walk long distances in just  flip-flops or bare feet. After a boat ride up a jungle river, this group walked over a mile down rocky, muddy paths, and across another small river – just to go to the party. After a couple of hours at the party, they turned around and walked back to their boat to go home.

They didn’t mind the mud too much.
